On January 23, Rubicon Water marked a significant collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Dr. Hani Sweilem, witnessed the signing the MoU agreement between MWRI and Rubicon Water, together with our partner Elsewedy Watanya.

The MoU was signed by Mohamed Saleh, Head of Egypt’s Irrigation Department, Jordi Pujades,  Rubicon’s General Manager of EMEA, and Tamer Nafea, Managing Director of Elsewedy Watanya.

During the ceremony, Dr. Sweilem stated that, “The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation consistently seeks to benefit from the latest methods to enhance efficiency and improve water management. This memorandum aims to facilitate cooperation, transferring expertise for the development of water facilities, control, and measurement systems in water channels. The goal is to elevate water use efficiency, enhance services to beneficiaries, and reduce operating costs through precise measurement and control, ensuring timely and optimal water supply to agricultural lands.”

The MoU represents a joint agreement to place focus on modernising water management systems, optimising agricultural productivity, and implementing flow control systems across Egypt’s agricultural landscape. A significant step towards creating a sustainable and efficient irrigation landscape to meet the changing water use requirements throughout the country.
