Overshot Control Gates

The FlumeGate is a combined flow or level measurement and control gate designed for regulating flow in open channels.

Rubicon Control Pedestal

The Control Pedestal is the foundation and smarts underpinning each Rubicon product. The Pedestal integrates software, local control keys, remote terminal unit (RTU), solar power, communications and other core components. It provides a remote control interface for both Rubicon and third-party products. The robust design provides power and control to linked devices, with a secure weather-proof housing for electronic components and batteries.

The Control Pedestal typically controls Rubicon’s gate and flow meter products such as the SlipMeter, SlipGate or BladeMeter. It also has the capability to interface with third-party electrically actuated devices in response to flow and pressure inputs for control.

Over 35,000 gates and meters with integrated Control Pedestals have been installed worldwide, with performance proven over the past 30+ years.

Network Control Solution Overview

Total Channel Control™

Interconnect a sequence of integrated Rubicon technology in a channel network to introduce benefits including improved operations, elimination of system spills, minimised labor requirements, reduced expenses associated to pumping and an enhanced servicability to irrigators.

The Network Control solution, known as Total Channel Control (TCC), brings together FlumeGates, sophisticated radio communications and Rubicon’s dedicated irrigation management software to accurately control the flow of water, while automatically responding to downstream demand right up to the dam or pumping station.

The behaviour of each regulator in the system can be configured in response to the extractions or rejections by irrigators located on the network, dynamically matching the behaviour to achieve accurate distribution and optimal service to farmers.

Eliminating excess spill has improved our efficiency. By reducing the spills at the diversion dam and end of the canal, we can retain storage water in our reservoir for the next year.

FCID in Nebraska reduced spills by more than 85% since the implementation of TCC.

AgPod™

The AgPod is a powerful on-farm IoT gateway with the capability to integrate both FarmConnect and third-party devices to process raw inputs to inform data-driven decisions.

The AgPod features Motorola’s MC Edge RTU with powerful edge-of-field computing features to ensure accurate and responsive calculations for automation control and data analytics.

FarmConnect™ Software

FarmConnect software is a cloud/web application that enables the monitoring of crops and the management of an irrigation with data derived from integrated sensors and automated in-field devices. Innovative and scalable, the FarmConnect platform enables users to irrigate using less time, effort and water.

BayDrive™

The BayDrive is a remotely operated actuator for controlling flow in farm channels and onto bays. The BayDrive is driven by Rubicon’s CableDrive™ actuation system, proven in thousands of automated gates around the world. Reliable operation is ensured by combining robust engineering with an integrated solar power supply and radio comms.

SmartFront™ Sensor

The SmartFront wetting advance sensor precisely detects the water advance, while calculating the surface water depth and infiltration. Using the SmartFront’s sensor data, FarmConnect software dynamically calculates the precise irrigation cut-off point to avoid over and under-watering. It then closes any automated bay gates and valves or sends an SMS alert for manual shutoff.

Weather Station

The Weather Station is an accurate and reliable all-in-one device for measuring localised weather and determining Reference Evapotranspiration (ETo). The patented high precision, high intensity rainfall measurement system and unique flush-valve mechanism prevents the build-up of debris associated with traditional rainfall methods.

BladeValve™

The BladeValve is a remotely operated high- flow pipe valve that makes surface irrigation less labor-intensive and more flexible. It provides the freedom to irrigate without having to be on-site and the ability to precisely time irrigations to help you improve yields and reduce water use.
